What Does a Notary Public Do
A Texas notary public verifies identity and witnesses the signing of documents. The notary confirms the signer appears willing and aware of the document being signed. A notary does not review or approve the legal content of a document.
Can a Notary Give Legal Advice
No. Texas notaries are not attorneys. A notary cannot explain legal meaning, choose forms, or advise how to complete documents. Speak with a licensed attorney if legal guidance is needed.
How Much Does Notarization Cost
Texas law sets the maximum fee for the notarial act itself. Additional service costs such as travel, printing, wait time, and after-hours appointments are separate. Use the Free Quote Calculator to see an estimated total before booking.
Why Do You Charge Travel Fees
Mobile notary services travel to your home, office, hospital, or other location. Travel fees cover time, distance, and transportation costs once the notary begins traveling. Travel fees apply regardless of whether the notarization is completed.
Why Do Prices Change at Night or on Weekends
Evening, late night, weekend, and holiday appointments include additional service charges. The quote builder calculates this automatically based on your appointment time.
What Identification Is Required
Every signer must present valid government-issued photo identification. Common acceptable identification includes a driver's license, state ID card, or passport.
What Should I Bring to My Appointment
Bring the complete document ready for signature. Do not sign before the appointment unless specifically required. All signers must be present with valid photo ID.
Can a Document Be Notarized if It Is Incomplete
No. Texas law prohibits notarizing documents with blank spaces or incomplete sections. If documents are incomplete, the appointment will be canceled and travel fees still apply.
Do All Signers Need to Be Present
Yes. Every signer must appear before the notary at the same time unless the document specifically allows separate notarizations.
What Happens if Someone Does Not Show Up
The 15-minute waiting period begins at the scheduled appointment time. If the notarization has not begun within 15 minutes, the visit is treated as a completed service call and the deposit is non-refundable.
What Happens if I Cancel My Appointment
Appointments canceled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time are non-refundable.
How Do Remote Online Notarizations Work
Remote Online Notarization uses identity verification technology and live audio-video recording. Additional platform fees may apply and are the responsibility of the client.
Do You Offer Discounts
Yes. A 10 percent service discount is available for active military, veterans, first responders, educators, and seniors age 65 and older. Valid identification required at time of service.
Do You Provide Witnesses
Witness services are available by request and may include an additional service fee. Witnesses must present valid government-issued photo identification at the appointment.
